about

Bonus Track from "Son of More Songs About Girls" recorded 1991.

lyrics

If you should stop by dear
You know what you'd find here
A lonelier version of me

But you're out with your new love
His name I've heard much of
He's twice the man I'll ever. be

And thoughts of the two of you race through my head
I'm not keen on dying but I wish I was dead

Or at least sleeping in this prison you're keeping
'round a lonelier version of me

A lonelier version with you on my mind
A version without which you're doing just fine

So happy not caring about the pain
you're not sharing with the
lonelier version of me

I'm not really coping
Just desperately hoping'
that I can find something to do

And I doubt that you miss me
but if you're not busy
You'lll find me some time around 2
In some noisy bar knowing you won't be there
Just sitting pretending I really don't care

My friends know I'm bluffing
and drinking solves nothing for
a lonelier version of me

So I sit by the phone but t never quite rings
You're out with your friends and you're calling me things
That can't be repeated
You've soundly defeated
A lonelier version of me

But if you should stop by dear,
You know what you'd find here,
A lonelier version of me
